I’ll probably get the teaching stream version of tenure soon.
The major news this week is that the Summary of Evidence for my promotion to continuing status at UTSC arrived. This is the department’s response to my continuing status dossier which in turn builds on my probationary review dossier. The Summary of Evidence is overwhelmingly positive; I’m so relieved.
I get the impression that “the other shoe will drop” sometime in December.
I realized that the kids are slowly losing their bilingualism because I’m not speaking much Esperanto with them. This lead me to reflect on Bilingualism and Denaskuleco. After thinking about it, I realized that I really ought to speak more Esperanto with them. Even if they never use Esperanto — or there are no other speakers on Earth — it will still benefit them to know another language. And so, I am back to speaking Esperanto with Mira and Mabel. We moved the stack of kids’ books to a more convenient spot and have been reading them every day.
I continue to poke away at the Flock of Birds and Milky Way paper. It is at the stage where I’m typesetting it in manuscript mode and changing small bits of phrasing. I’ve got a meeting to finalize it on Monday.
