Today, we made a trip out to East Toronto for the Lakeshore African Violet Society Spring Sale. It was nestled held at a little church off the beaten path.

The sale and show were cozy. The people working the show were so friendly. When I told one of the women at the show that I was staring my girls on violets young, she replied that she started around the same age as Mira. Apparently, her mother kept violets and she would throw out leaves. She got upset at this wastefulness and started propogating the leaves herself. A lifetime later, she’s still growing violets.
Initially, I intended to get at most six plants. I was hoping for three episcias and three violets. I wanted to get a few Ukranian-Russian african violets.
Well, I came home with the seven violets and one kohleria shown above.
Mira got excited and claimed some of the plant as her own. She’s promised to take care of the faithfully.
