This week was a lot1. The first week of semester is always totally crazy. Lots of one off meetings. Getting teaching assistants on boarded. Meeting with the teaching team. And so on, and so on. All sorts of administrative problems that need to be solved quickly.
In family news, Megan got a year long teaching position. Mira went back to school for Junior Kindergarten. They are both thrilled to be “back at school”.
My students and I started our braids course. As I got ready for the course, all sorts of little synchronicities cropped up. For example, I reached out to Dr. Nicole Klenk, a professor here with a textile lab. She recommended that I check out Speiser’s The Manual of Braiding, which she had seen recently. That’s our course text! An eerie and fruitful coincidence.
Seminar got off to a good start. We got interested in sliding block puzzles.
More Esperanto books came in! This time, I got:
When it rains, it truly pours. I am also getting Sed Nur Fragmento in the mail from UEA. Moreover, there is an extremely rare book in the mail for me.
A highlight of the week for me was doing my usual walk to work. I hadn’t done it much over the summer. The walk takes me about fourty minutes.
